SpringHill Suites By Marriott Columbia Fort Meade Area

Really enjoyed this hotel! It definitely exceeded my expectations. Everything was clean and the staff was really friendly. The toilet is in a separate space than the shower (which is great is you're traveling with someone- especially a family). They made a cute decoration with the toilet tissue; added a little flare. My only complaint would be that the toilet room and the shower room does NOT have locks on the doors. Even though they have some really cute sliding doors, it would be nice to be able to lock them for a little added privacy. If it was an option, I would have taken off a hard star, but I would definitely go back where I'm in the area!

We have stayed at the Columbia, MD location several times so we were looking forward to another nice experience. However, what we were expecting did not happen and we will never stay there again. Pros: The rooms were clean and the bedding was very comfortable. The room we had was very quiet and we were able to get a good rest. Cons: 1. We were there for two nights, and no one at the check-in station greeted us or acknowledged us. When we checked in, the one person glared at me as if I was taking up her time and the other person who checked us in really didn't smile. The next day I walked past the station and the person was scrolling through their cell phone and didn't acknowledge me at all. I would smile at them and say good morning and they would just look at me blankly. The only person who said good morning to me was one of the people cleaning the rooms. 2. Although the rooms were clean when we arrived, they do not "refresh" the rooms for longer stays. We had to ask for toilet paper, towels, etc. 3. There isn't any coffee/hot water left out during the day. I was told to go across the parking lot to the Hampton Inn for coffee. Next time I will be staying there, so the walk across the parking lot will not be necessary. 4. I understand it is a free breakfast, but they have cut back so much it was terrible. The picture shown on the website is not true. There is VERY little to chose from. They do not have the waffle station any longer and what was offered as far as eggs, were premade and tasteless. I understand COVID has really changed a lot of places, but we did not feel welcomed. We felt like we were really ruining their day and they really hated their jobs. A very somber atmosphere. We travel a lot a stay in many hotels, and this stay was a shock to us since it used to be such a friendly place.

Very helpful and warm staff. I was happy and satisfied with the Marriott Brand product of Springhill Suites. Salena (think that’s her name) checked me in with an early arrival and gave me the Bonvoy service I enjoy at Marriott hotels. She also was expeditious. Other staff were equally warm as stated. She just really made me feel taken care of during my check in. The water in the shower could have been warmer. Other than that no complaints. The area felt and is safe and close to a ton of things. Great for DC or Baltimore and many things to do in Howard Co as well. Breakfast went bad either.
